Description
Step into the smoky spotlight of the golden jazz era with SDSCPA's swinging tribute to the unforgettable Peggy Lee. With sultry charm, sly wit, and unmatched vocal style, Peggy Lee left an indelible mark on American music—and now, our talented student performers bring her legacy to life. This toe-tapping, finger-snapping evening features classics like “Fever,” “Why Don’t You Do Right,” and “Black Coffee,” capturing the cool sophistication and emotional depth Lee was known for. The setlist spans her iconic hits to lesser-known gems, including “He’s a Tramp,” “I’m a Woman,” “Big Spender,” and “It’s a Good Day,” showcasing her range from playful to poignant. From the Latin flair of “Manana” to the bluesy “Going to Chicago,” and the upbeat sparkle of “Hey! Look Me Over!” and “I’ll Dance at Your Wedding,” each arrangement is a fresh take, performed by our full jazz ensemble and vocalists. A special combo rendition of “I Wanna Be Around” adds an intimate moment to the evening, while “I Love Being Here With You” sums up the spirit of the show—a joyful celebration of timeless music and live performance. Join us for a night that honors the voice, style, and spirit of one of jazz’s most influential women. Peggy Lee’s music is as fresh and relevant today as ever—and we love being here with you to share it. Items Not Allowed
